Unicorn Delivers SEleNe CC Software for Secure Energy Networks

Unicorn Systems has successfully delivered to SEleNe CC the turnkey software solution that covers the regional coordination processes for ensuring the security and optimal utilization of the power grid. This complex software solution allows SEleNe CC to provide all five RCC services to transmission system operators in South-Eastern Europe. The most important modules for the model merging and the calculation of cross-border transmission capacities was delivered in only 7 months, which helped to SEleNe CC to fulfil the European regulations.

GRIFFIN

Unicorn delivered to SELeNe CC the complex system called SEE RCC Tool that supports all of these processes. It is a unique turnkey solution build Griffin platform - a set of business modules and technical components that reflects the long-term experience of Unicorn with the energy domain and RCC's in particular. Besides others, the tool offers:

modelling, analysis and simulation of electricity network operation,
own calculation module that ensures load-flow calculation, contingency analysis and optimization tasks
data exchange, validation and monitoring of data flows,
orchestration of the processes, management of computation tasks, In Thessa web-based user interface, providing all of the RSC services and all system functions in a single place and enabling on-line collaboration on calculation results.
The information system is built on modern microservice, cloud-native architecture, allowing for scalability and future enhancements. It is open by all means, offering well- documented API, event-driven integration and rich documentation.

Who is our customer

SEleNe CC (Southeast Electricity Network Coordination Center) is the regional security coordinator for the region of South-Eastern Europe based in Thessaloniki, Greece. The company was established on May 22, 2020 by four transmission system operators: IPTO (Greece), ESO-EAD (Bulgaria), TERNA SpA (Italy) and Transelectrica (Romania). The company's obligation is to cover regional coordination processes in accordance with European Union regulations.

As the Regional Security Coordinator for South-Eastern Europe, SEleNe CC provides the State following key services:

Coordinated security analysis for assessment of the reliability of the grid
Calculation of cross-border transmission capacities at the North-Greek and South- Romanian border
Coordination of planned outages between the participating countries
Assessment of short-term adequacy between power generation and consumption

Unicorn performed all phases of the development life cycle - solution analysis, technical design, implementation itself, several types of testing and deployment of the final solution to the production environment. Unicorn also provides complete support services -

and system operations.

These continuous services are provided 24 hours a day; support is provided in accordance with renowned methodologies and approaches such as ITIL.

It supports analysis of the grid and operational planning in various time horizons, starting from intraday up to year-ahead.

It works with grid models both in UCTE-DEF and CGMES formats.
